URGENT: Missing Korean Trekker in Khumbu Region

KATHMANDU — Authorities are seeking public assistance in locating a missing Korean national last seen trekking in Nepal's Everest region.

Mr. Yeon-Sang Chung, 67, approximately 165cm tall, has been reported missing following a trek in the Khumbu region between December 23, 2025, and January 6, 2026. He failed to board his scheduled flight to Korea on January 10, 2026.

Limited information is available about his trekking arrangements, including whether he was accompanied by a registered guide or trekking company.

The Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) has issued an urgent appeal to trekking guides, local communities, and anyone in the Everest region who may have seen Mr. Chung.
