This opportunity allows us to immerse ourselves in the culture, religion, and daily lifestyle of the Tamang community. They provide valuable insights into their way of life. Furthermore, the Tamang community predominantly populates the Langtang region. Moreover, the local inhabitants have been residing here and preserving their own unique culture, religion, tradition, and dialect. Hence, the Tamang Heritage Trail Trek is a cultural tour. It helps us encounter the ancient lifestyle of the indigenous people who inhabited the Langtang region.
The way we follow for the Tamang Heritage Trek
The Tamang Heritage Trek commences from Syabrubesi, which is about a 5-6 hour drive from Kathmandu city. As we march forward, we pass villages like Galtang, Tatopani, Thuman, Timur, Briddhim and back to Syabrubensi. Furthermore, the Tamang community predominantly populates the villages through which we traverse. Moreover, we can also see people of the Magar and Tibetan societies. Moreover, the residents of these areas actively participate in farming and animal husbandry.
In addition, the people are very creative as they are engaged in basket weaving, wood carving and making other handicraft items like traditional caps, mufflers, etc. The residents residing here expose us to the exceptionally unique culture and lifestyle of the Tamang Heritage Trail Trek. They have their own unique rituals, culture, festivals, dialects, traditional architecture, costumes and local dances. At Golijung and Gatlang VDCs, you can enjoy the traditional dances performed by the local people.
On the way, somewhere in between the Tamang Heritage treks, we come across Goljung Pass, which is a perfect viewpoint for outstanding views of Langtang and Kerung. Just before Nagthali, you can enjoy the hot bath in the healing hot-water spring at Tatopani. And moving ahead to Thuman, you can see ancient monasteries and houses with beautiful wood carvings. The night stay at the guesthouses in Tamang villages throughout the trek will offer you an opportunity to experience the warm hospitality of people residing there.
